Key responsibilities of the General Practitioner:
- Provide high-quality, person-centred primary care to patients across the lifespan.
- Assess, diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions, including preventive care and health promotion.
- Develop appropriate treatment plans, prescribe safely and review medicines in line with clinical guidance.
- Recognise red flags and urgent presentations, stabilise where appropriate, and arrange timely escalation or referral.
- Coordinate care with hospitals, specialists, community services, pharmacists, nurses and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Support continuity of care through follow-up, chronic disease management, screening, vaccination and lifestyle advice.
Key requirements of the General Practitioner:
- Primary medical degree or equivalent medical qualification
- IMC Specialist Registration in General Practice or in the final process
- May consider IMC General Registration doctors in some cases, if doctor has proven General Practice/Family Medicine training and post internship experience
- Seeking a minimum fixed term contract of 3 months or longer
- Evidence of safe, competent clinical practice and strong decision-making in a primary care setting
- Excellent communication, consultation, teamwork and patient-management skills
