*** General Practitioners Required Nationwide ***

We are currently working with a range of public and private healthcare organisations and general/family practice services across Ireland that are looking to recruit qualified, patient-focused General Practitioners for permanent positions and long-term contracts.

Key responsibilities:

  • Clinical assessment and patient care
  • Conduct patient consultations, take medical histories, perform appropriate examinations and assess presenting symptoms.
  • Formulate differential diagnoses, arrange investigations where appropriate, and develop individualised management and treatment plans.
  • Prescribe safely and appropriately, review medication, and monitor treatment outcomes.
  • Manage acute presentations and ongoing conditions, and provide preventative care, health promotion, screening and immunisation advice as appropriate.
  • Recognise urgent or complex presentations and arrange timely referral or escalation to specialist, emergency or other services.
  • Continuity and coordination of care
  • Provide clear clinical advice and communicate sensitively with patients, families and carers, respecting patient choice and dignity.
  • Coordinate care with practice colleagues, nursing staff, allied health professionals, hospitals and community services.
  • Support appropriate follow-up, chronic disease reviews, care planning and continuity of care.
  • Clinical governance and practice standards
  • Maintain accurate, timely and confidential clinical records in line with applicable data protection and record-keeping requirements.
  • Follow professional standards, clinical guidance, prescribing requirements, safeguarding procedures and infection prevention and control policies.
  • Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement, significant event review and continuing professional development, as relevant to the role.
  • Work within professional competence, seek advice when required and maintain appropriate professional indemnity arrangements.

Key requirements:

  • Current registration with the Medical Council of Ireland (IMC)
  • For independent general/family practice posts, recognised GP training/qualification and the relevant GP recognition or Specialist Division registration in General Practice
  • Relevant experience in general practice or primary care; the level of experience required will depend on the specific opportunity.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based medicine, clinical governance, patient safety, prescribing and the management of acute and chronic conditions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with patients and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Sound clinical judgement, good organisation, effective time management and the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, professional ethics, reflective practice and ongoing continuing professional development.
  • Appropriate professional indemnity/medical malpractice cover and evidence of eligibility to work in Ireland, where applicable.
  • Sufficient English-language proficiency to communicate effectively and safely in clinical practice, in line with applicable requirements.
