*** Medical Officer – Specialist IMC Registration Essential ***

We are assisting a community hospital in the west of Ireland, who is currently recruiting for a Medical Officer.

Duffy Alexander Recruitment works in partnership with the HSE (Public Hospitals which includes University Teaching Hospitals), Private hospitals & Clinics across Ireland to recruit doctors across all levels in multiple specialities.

Key responsibilities of the Medical Officer:

  • Attend the hospital as scheduled for a minimum of 32 hours per week and provide emergency attendance when required
  • Act as Medical Officer providing ongoing medical care through daily patient reviews, regular assessments, maintenance of clinical records, weekly ward rounds, and assessment of community referrals
  • Collaborate with the Consultant Geriatrician, CNM, multidisciplinary teams, and other staff on patient management
  • Participate in multidisciplinary, clinical, operational, and service development meetings as required
  • Provide on-site and on-call medical cover in accordance with agreed arrangements, subject to service requirements
  • Work with the Director of Nursing to support the efficient operation of the hospital and ensure high standards of patient care.
  • Support service improvement initiatives, including restructuring, integration of services, technology implementation, and the development of policies and procedures.
  • Promote the safe, effective, and efficient use of medications, equipment, and other resources.
  • Fulfil statutory responsibilities relating to public health, infectious disease notification, and implementation of preventative measures.
  • Conduct family meetings regarding resuscitation status and other aspects of patient care planning.
  • Provide clinical information, reports, and certificates as required by law, HSE policy, or authorised medical practitioners
  • Report any concerns affecting patient welfare to the Director of Nursing.
  • Reside within an approved distance of the hospital and undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as assigned by management

Key requirements for this role:

  • Specialist IMC registration essential
  • Full Professional exams, for example, MRCPI / MRCP UK etc. or in process of professional exams, would help your application
  • Proven post internship experience
  • You will need to have passed either the IELTS or OET exam and hold a valid certificate. The two accepted standards are IELTS overall Band 7, not less than 6.5 in each domain or OET Grade B overall
  • Available to start in July
